What’s one superior than a Sigma SD14? Why the SD15, of course. Sigma’s SD15 DSLR starts with the same 14 megapixel Foveon X3 direct-image sensor found in the unimpressive SD14 (and compact DP1 for that matter) but ratchets-up the specs with a new True II image processor and 3-inch LCD. A worthwhile update to be sure but trivial by comparison to what Nikon and Canon have announced in current weeks. Distracted by all the DP1 R&D were we Sigma?

Let’s hope Agfa brings more to Photokina than the 1338sT, because otherwise it’s going to be a pretty lonely booth. The 10 megapixel camera isn’t quite the top of the line, even with the 3-inch touchscreen: smile detection, face tracking, and a low-res YouTube video mode aren’t exactly large selling points — especially for €179 ($265). The non-touchscreen DC-1338i version has been available in the States for a while now, so the morbidly curious can anticipate to see this bad boy at a Walgreens sometime in the future.

Cloistered MMO fans, take note: the expansion pack to Lord of the Rings On the web, entitled Mines of Moria, is due for release on November 18. That’s about a week after Wrath comes out, so you might as well cancel any and all social engagements through December.

You can pre-order the game right now at the LOTRO Web site. Doing so will net you a few perks, including a special, pre-order-only cloak and some sort of token that can later be redeemed for a mysterious prize.

I know all of that sounds incredibly geekish, but to those who play MMOs, it’s all in a day’s work.
