These steps detail how to install linux, in this case ubuntu, on your computer running Mac OS X. The OS is installed on a virtual machine because installing on a hard partition using bootcamp is much harder because bootcamp wasn’t made to install linux. In this case I use VMWare fusion but parallels would do the job also.
