The Olympics have started. Beginning next Tuesday, we’ll witness some of the most finely-tuned athletes in the world battling it out on a little green table. Here’s to Olympic Table Tennis, one of the greatest sports of all time.

Now let’s take a look at the members of the US Table Tennis Team that’ll be competing in Beijing, shall we?

01074_142x190 Wang Chen returns to her birthplace, Beijing, to show everyone what’s what. She’s the two-time defending North American champ and lives in New York City.

Born: January 17, 1974 in Beijing, China

Residence: New York, New York

Height/Weight: 5’10” / 140 pounds

Event: Women’s Singles, Women’s Team

00953_142x190Crystal Huang lives in Southern California but often travels to her homeland to train. She states, “China has a lot more good players. The level is completely higher than here.” Ouch.

Born: July 18th, 1979 in Changsha, Hunan, China

Residence: San Gabriel, CA

Height/Weight: 5’3” / 110 pounds

Event: Women’s Singles, Women’s Team

00827_142x190 China’s Gao Jun won a sliver medal in 1992 in women’s doubles. She came to the US in 1994. I’m beginning to think that we’re getting most of our players from China.

Born: January 25, 1969 in Dalian, China

Residence: Gaithersburg, MD

Height/Weight: 5’7” / 140 pounds

Event: Women’s Singles, Women’s Team

00941_142x190 At 44 years old, David Zhuang doesn’t look a day past 38. I’ll give you three chances to guess where he’s originally form. Here’s a hint: He’s originally from China.

Born: September 1, 1963 in Guangdong, China

Residence: West Windsor, NJ

Height/Weight: 5’11” / 165 pounds

Event: Men’s Singles

So there you’ve it — your US Olympic Table Tennis Team. Good luck, you four. We’re pulling for you. And finally, here’s an awesome table tennis point…

Really, your child isn’t that cute.

Yes, I’m sure you think your child is cute, but unfortunately, he, she or it just doesn’t have what we’re looking for. Thank you for your time… and your information.

The BBC is responsible for a stolen data stick that contained the private information of hundreds of children. The group of children auditioned for an upcoming BBC show, called Gastronauts, aimed for educating children about how food is grown, made, and marketed. However, it would seem that more than the kids are getting a schooling.

The lost data included names, addresses and availability. Parents were notified by letter, which also included something of an apology:

I’m sorry to let you know that Objective Productions have informed us that a computer memory stick has gone missing…Let us know should anything happen that gives you cause for concern.

The BBC suspended production of the program, pending an investigation.

Moral of the story: Quit trying to get your damn kids on the tele. They’ll only end up as freakish weird grown-ups anyways. Why would you want to do that to them? Stop the madness.
